Hello! Thank you for visiting my website. I live in charming Batesville, Indiana located between Cincinnati and Indianapolis. I was born and raised in Waynesboro, Virginia but also spent a significant amount of time in North Carolina (Fayetteville, Sanford, and Pinehurst) before moving to Indiana. My first love is church music; I fell in love with the music of Sandi Patty as a young girl and sang her songs at every opportunity. Since my youth I've studied and enjoy singing the music of Mozart, Handel, Faure, and Bach. I discovered I love opera, and also enjoy musical theatre as well as some contemporary music. For several years I've been singing with the World Famous May Festival Chorus in Cincinnati under the direction of Robert Porco. When I’m not teaching or preparing for a performance I stay busy singing at community events including weddings, special events and other occasions as a soloist or ensemble member. I am a member of the Batesville United Methodist church where I sing as chorister/soloist, I also enjoy singing with area churches including the Holy Family Catholic church in Oldenburg, The Vineyard, and most recently the Greensburg First Presbyterian Church.
As I follow my passion as a singer, I also enjoy sharing my knowledge of the art of singing with others. I believe in a student-centured holistic approach to teaching. This requires that I continually gain more insight into my students as unique individuals in order to teach about how the body, mind, spirit, voice, and emotion all work together to communicate the music while maintaining the voice's natural integrity. Each student has individual needs as how to best achieve a free, efficient vocal tone, and it is my responsibility as the teacher to remain flexible in my approach. Quality vocal instruction should include a balance of technique and coaching together with a repertoire that suits the voice and personality of the student.
